About Us

GUNJAN FOUNDATION is a non-governmental social organization registered under Niti Ayog, founded in 2004 by Ms. Sushma Singhvi with a mission to pursue educational and other welfare measures for uplifting the underprivileged sections of society. It sought the task of educating and creating social awareness for the less fortunate thereby improving opportunities for a better standard of living. Gunjan reaches out to children, especially the girl child to promote empowerment, self-respect and self-reliance through free education which fosters hope and confidence in pursuing fulfilling lives.

We are privileged to inform you that in 2018 Shabd Nagari Organisation has selected us as one of the Top 10 NGOs in Delhi working devotedly and sincerely in the field of education.

Mission

Gunjan Foundation’s mission is to educate the less fortunate who are unable to afford formal schools. We provide quality education to children of marginalized sections of society to enable them to be at par with private school children.

The Foundation reaches out to children of various slums in the surrounding areas of the school. We are very proud of how well our children are doing. Parents have placed their faith in us and we can confidently say that we have their vote in Nathupur and surrounding communities of Gurugram!!

Presently, the Foundation runs Swapna Sarthak School in which about 210 students are enrolled in classes running from Nursery through class V. Swapna Sarthak School is run completely free of cost.  We do not charge any fees and also provide notebooks, course books, stationery, summer uniforms, winter uniforms and mid-day meals free of cost.

Besides running our regular school, we are also providing scholarships to our alumni; we have 80 students in Shishu Kalyan High School, Gurugram. We provide scholarships to our outgoing students because without this monetary support they would not be able to afford higher studies and would under the circumstances drop out!

In 2020-21 all classes were either online or were being managed through WhatsApp. As time went by, we realized the shortcomings of WhatsApp and so gradually we moved to live lessons for students.

Around 25-26 out of 30 students from each class were able to attend these live classes and for other students who were still in their villages, we had to follow the WhatsApp methodology. We were pleasantly surprised to see all the students taking a keen interest in this new type of teaching and they did not hesitate to come forward with their difficulties.

Vision

We continue to believe strongly that education is the key to building a strong nation. Literacy does more for society in one generation than anything else. It does away with age-old rudimentary customs, ill beliefs, superstitions etc. As a result, since we made our humble beginnings in 2004, we have been primarily focusing on fulfilling primary/junior level educational needs and aspirations of the students.

We have now widened our horizons further. For the past three years we have been financially supporting marginalized students who are pursuing advanced and professional courses. Our vision also includes advanced and professional courses in future.

CSR Projects/Programs

  • Running a formal  school since 2010

Gunjan Foundation Scholarship Fund

It will please you to know that along with our regular school we are also monetarily supporting many of our students who have passed out from our school during the past few years and are now studying in regular schools in classes 6 to 12. It is a matter of great pride for us that because of our excellent reputation in surrounding areas, when our children pass out they are quickly absorbed by good private schools.  Most of them would have dropped out of those schools had it not been for the initiative we took by starting a special scholarship fund for them wherein we fund their entire year’s education. We have 80 students in Shishu Kalyan High School, Gurugram.

Partnership with RITES

Gunjan Foundation has tied up with RITES this year for promoting advanced school/college education for underprivileged and disadvantaged children from economically weaker backgrounds. This partnership will look into the financial support of school students in regular schools and students pursuing college education.

Partnership with Sri Aurobindo Ashram (2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20)

Gunjan Foundation has partnered with Sri Aurobindo Ashram, New Delhi for its Clean Mind Program wherein every Sunday children attend sessions on keeping their minds peaceful, uncluttered and pollution free.

Health Check Up

Our sincere thanks to All India Human Development Council for continuing their association with us for the past several years.

This year due to pandemic circumstances they have started Tuesday Clinic in our school Swapna Sarthak to treat general patient of our surroundings. Every year the council organizes an annual health check up of students at Swapna Sarthak School. All students would be examined by a team of doctors including physicians, dentists and ophthalmologists. Heights and weights are recorded too. The doctors are always very satisfied with the health status of the students barring a few stray cases which may require some medical intervention.
